The Prelude

Posted on July 11, 2011

One of the potential stops our epic summer journey.

It’s almost all planned.

But, there are some things that could be done to add some fun and sightseeing along the way.

No, we’re not talking about the world’s largest ball of twine (which does not happen to fall along our general route).

We’re talking about pure wonders of the United States of America.

Before we leave Florida, I’d definitely like to get to see the southernmost point again and maybe have one last drink in Key West before we make the other coast.  Certainly, I know Kokkiree won’t complain about having to go back and relax on a beach and have great seafood.

It’s also an almost even 3000 miles from the southernmost point marker in Key West to our future home in California.  That is epic.

I’d also like to see the Everglades one more time on an airboat, or take some tour through some nasty part of the swamp to see how epic those gators actually can be (I’ve seen some that would put my entire body in their mouth in one bite).

But, those would be pre-epic.  A prelude of sorts before we actually get moving.

Yes, this epic journey will probably take seven days and seven nights.  It will encompass 3000 miles.  There will be three of us (and a dog).  We will be traveling in the chariot named “Escape.”

How much more epic can this epic be?

Stay tuned to find out!
